Dan Winters is an artist that makes other artist shake in their boots about their own art. He has a unique way of seeing things that others just cannot see. His point of view of the world is very smooth, honest and can he interpret a subject matter in ways that other photographers can only dream of. He is widely recognized for his unique way in which he goes about creating his celebrity portraitures. His work in scientific photography is nothing short of inspirational as well. The photojournalistic work that he does captures life in a realistic yet artistic manner that most people can’t even envision. His drawings are highly impressive as well. Winters has been the recipient of more than 100 national and international awards from organizations including the Society of Publication Designers, the Art Directors Club of New York, Communication Arts, and American Photography. He received a World Press Photo Award in 2003. In 1998 he was awarded the Alfred Eisenstadt Award for magazine photography. He was honored by Kodak in 2003 as a photo “icon” in its biographical “legends” series.

The Middle Teton reaches 12,804 feet at the peek. During the climb, Dan lost his footing and fell down a portion to a large rock field below them. He woke up from being knocked unconscious naked and cut up all over. The fall rag-dolled him down the portion of the mountain and along with that, the jagged rocks grabbed at his clothing and ripped them off while shredding him all over. When he awoken, he was in a great deal of pain and had blurred vision and was painful just to move. His friend Greg, whom was the fastest of the group, headed down the mountain for help.
