In Why Literature Matters, the author use facts, emotion and credibility to persuade his auidence that the decline of reading in America has gone down dramatically.
First, austhor Dana Gioia starts off with grabbing the readers attention by putting worry in their heads when saying the “most worrisome findings”. The emotion that the reader already has is also taking in the aspects of readingthe author gives. He states that people don’t read for enjoyment anymore and while people still had to read somethings, now most don’t read anything at all.
