For scene one, the interview with Dante on his background, my goal was to create an understanding of who Dante was and his influences throughout his life that helped him to be successful in his career. I wanted people to understand who he was as a person, some of the things he experienced and things that he enjoyed. I think that it was important for the first interview to be with Dante so that I could capture the sense of who he was and his essence. This interview focuses on the same two very important elements in Dante’s life, Religion, and his love for Beatrice. I made sure to try to capture the image of Dante that I discovered while doing research and having Cino reflect what I thought of Dante and what I thought was very important to him. In my research, the two major things that influenced his life and his work were his beliefs and Beatrice. I wanted Cino to discuss this, that way it is clear to the audience that it wasn’t just in Dante’s head, but that even people around Dante noticed what was most important to him. This view of Dante through Cino is important in making the audience aware of how good of a man Dante really was for being pure and remaining true to his beliefs. Dante was a man who when he cared, he cared with everything he had. He was someone that when he loved something or someone, he loved it full heartedly. He was talented, yet very in touch with his emotions and making sure to keep his life straight and always keep the things and people that were important to him at the top of the
