Discussion Board Unit 1
There are two types of motivation called extrinsic and intrinsic. Extrinsic- are things you do because you have to do it to receive a reward. Ex: Grades, money, power, and etc. Intrinsic- are things you do because it’s what you want or like to do. Ex: Enjoying yourself, being into something, personal challenges, and etc. Motivation is “the act or process of giving someone a reason for doing something, the actor process of motivating someone. The condition of being eager to act or work, the condition of being motivated. A force or influence that causes someone to do something” (Merriam-Webster, 2015). I’ve ordered books to help motivate me on my writing skills, because I want to be a good writer one day. I never made an A on a written assignment before in my English class. Now that I’m in college, I’m motivated to make straight A’s on my writing assignments. I believe that the feedback that I will be receiving from Doctor C. will keep me motivated to make all A’s in this course. The criticism I’ve received in the past from people, feeling overwhelmed with long pages, dealing with things that have nothing to do with school, not knowing where to put a punctuation in the right place, and etc. are some challenges that I face with college level writing. I think by picking a person that I can trust to give me some good feedback on my writing skills, will help me to stay motivated in this course. Telling my writing buddy about my worries, success, ideas, and my writing process will help me to stay focused, and motivated. I’m going to start keeping a journal or log on my writing skills, and start celebrating when I’ve overcome my bad experiences with writing. I believe having the desire of becoming a better writer, knowing that I can make a lot of money by writing, and showing people that do and don’t believe in me what I can do.
