Youth need adults who are motivated and good at leadership. The Jefferson Award is an award that is given to people who help and do good things for the people in their community. An individual worth noticing is David Haakenson, David Haakenson is a Spanish teacher and coach at Amery School District. He was trying to teach us how to tackle and then he gave an example of what to do when you wrap up.” This illustrates that he was showing leadership by teaching me how and giving me an example on how to wrap up and tackle. Furthermore, Mason Roberts, a student, said, "He taught me how to drive block and that made me feel interested in what he was saying.” This suggests that he showed leadership by teaching kids how to block and then got them interested in what he was saying. Clearly, David Haakenson deserves the Jefferson Award because it is important for young people to have someone who shows leadership, because it will help shape their future behavior. Some people might say a police officer deserves the Jefferson Award because they protect the city from harm.
