Enlisting in the Navy in the warm month of Aug. in Charlotte, NC, Quinton left and completed his basic training in Great Lakes, IL.
Subsequently, leaving Illinois, Quintoin later enlisted in submarine school and fire control technician classes both A and C in Groton, CT, giving him the rank of an E-5 sailor.
From a Petty Officer, Second Class to Chief Petty Officer, Quinton served at Submarine Squadron Six, USS Emory S. Land, Augusta and Philadelphia until '97.

On July 2, Quinton will stepped down from his current position and retire with honor after serving almost 30 years in the Navy.
Accompanying him that day as he stands in decorative patches, will be his bride of 26 years, Susan Quinton and children Kayla, Kristen and Keith.
Quinton's service decorations will include: the Navy Commendation medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Unit Citation, Navy Battle Efficiency āEā ribbon, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy Arctic Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, NATO Kosovo Medal, Expert Pistol Medal, Expert Rifle Medal, Silver and Gold Dolphins from Submarine Warfare Insignia.
In addition to his military awards, Quinton received a Master's degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, with certifications in Forensic Criminology and Victim Services. Before his Master's, Quinton received a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice with a certification in Homeland Security from Excelsior College, Albany,
