Thomas Jefferson wrote “The Declaration of Independence” in the year 1776. This was a year that ruler ship was governed under a king, and this king maintained absolute power over the states. Thomas believed that everyone should be treated as equals no matter their status he wrote “We hold truths to be self- evident that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness”. Thomas and his piers felt that the people were allowing the corrupt government and their ridiculous rules, overtake their lives and put them through suffering that they did not deserve. Thomas continued to say “That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its power in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness”. This one ruler the King had full control of everything and had no limits on his wishes or power. This type of government allowed the one ruler or King to take away people’s right to be heard, seen and ultimately their happiness. Thomas Jefferson and his constituents would change and make History by regaining people’s Independence and happiness with “The Declaration of Independence”.
