The Photo I chose was of Pickett's Charge. Pickett's charge happened on July 3, 1863, the last day of the Battle of Gettysburg in the state of Pennsylvania during the American Civil War. The charge is named after Maj. Gen. George Pickett, one of three Confederate generals who led the assault under Longstreet. It was ordered by Robert E. Lee against Maj. Gen. It involved an infantry assault of approximately 15,000 Confederate soldiers against 6,500 Federals troops’ position along Cemetery Ridge. It was a union victory with 1,500 (estimate) Union and 6,000+ (estimated) Confederate casualties. Pickett’s 6,000-man division left more than half of its men dead, bleeding or captured on the field at Gettysburg, including all 15 regimental commanders.
