In Great Britain, where the industrial revolution began, became the country with the wealthiest economy: “Governments and private entrepreneurs worked hard to imitate British technologies...” (doc J). Advancements in industry caused economies to change and to change rapidly. For some countries it was a struggle to keep up with the constant industrial changes. Having the proper environmental conditions became vitally important to the prosperity of a country. Coal mines were essential for providing fuel for machinery. Plus, before the industrial revolution people made goods without the assistance of machines. Therefore, the production time of making goods changed when machines were introduced to factories. More goods could be produced in less time. People power and machine power were immeasurably different. Countries that did not or could not incorporate machinery in their factories caused their economy to decline and fall behind the countries that kept up with industrial advancements. Any economical gaps formed would have been hard to decrease and even more challenging to close. Many of these economical fallbacks could have become permanent. Many of the issues that modernization caused in the past still exist in today’s world. In the United States the government wants to use sacred Native American land as a designated place for a pipeline. There are still disparities between women and men. Albeit, women have the right to vote and can have professional jobs there is a huge wage gap between male and females in the work world. Furthermore, there are a multitude of countries in the world that are undeveloped that are economically and politically. Many of these issues that complicated life at the beginning of the modern era are yet to be
