When Europeans took power they brought “guns and steel to parts of Africa” and introduced them to the Americas (World Civilizations p. 808). With the lack of weapons, “not even. shields could defend.” the indigenous people (Doc 3). Native Americans used arrows, shields, “hatchets (and other weapons)” (Bruce E. p. 25). However, their weapons were ineffective because the other side had horses and swords. Everything the native Americans learned previously, didn’t work. They lost to the Europeans because their weapons weren’t good enough. Lastly, indigenous people were forced to convert to Catholicism. Europeans believed that native Americans were misguided, they “set out to convert people to their religion” using harmful methods (World Civilizations, 808).
