In a temperate deciduous forest “… the canopy is dense rather than thick like in a rainforest” allowing light to shine through (bio). Because there is light hitting the ground floor of the forest, other plants can benefit from the sun’s energy, allowing multiple types of plant species to grow in fertile soil. “Most of the trees [in the temperate deciduous forest] are broadleaf trees such as oak, maple, beech, hickory and chestnut”(ear). Broadleaf trees absorb a massive amount of energy than most trees do. The animals in this forest eat the leaves from the trees, which provide the animals with energy.
