The Declaration of Independence and the song, We Are Never Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift are two pieces of work from a very different time period. The differences of Taylor Swift’s song and the Declaration of Independence is, in the song she talks about alternating status’ of a relationship and the document is talking about the splitting of two countries, also one person’s feeling of persecution and oppression in the song to one whole nation in the document, finally they compare to eventually never getting back together after realizing the bad situations that have happened while together. In Taylor Swift’s song, she explains the undertaking difficulties of being in a relationship from a one person point of view. “Ooh, you called me up again tonight But ooh, this time I’m telling you, I’m telling you We are never, ever, ever, getting back together.” She is making the decision of, besides the fact of the man begging to be back in the women’s life, not getting back together with him. She is telling the story of the tragic love story between the two people. In variation, the Declaration of Independence is a decision of the whole nation and doesn’t alternate between two decisions. “They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity.
