In my opinion, the impact of colonisation will be present for a long time among Aboriginal people however; they can overcome these effects by taking control of their life and health by leveraging on their strengths as individuals and communities. Self-determination is the right of individuals and will enable Aboriginal people move forward, take control and make changes that will have positive effects on their lives (Gorringe, 2011).
Decolonization enables Aboriginal peoples reconnect with their traditional land, cultural practices, healing and language (Corntassel, 2012). Hence, Aboriginal people can embrace decolonization by moving forward and acknowledging that although their lives and health have been significantly affected by colonialism,
