He was born on June 16, 1971, in East Harlem, New York. His parents are Afeni Shakur and Billy Garland. Both of his parents were Black Panthers. If you guessed Tupac [2pac], then you are right.
Afeni Shakur, his mother, was a Black Panther. In the 60’s -70’s, the Black Panthers were a radical group fighting for the rights of black people. For a while, she was in jail for setting off a race war. She was acquitted after being charged. Billy Garland, his father, was also a Black Panther. He lost touch with Tupac when he was 5. Tupac was not able to meet him until he was 23. He said, ‘“I felt I needed a daddy my whole life and I never had one.’’ Sekyiwa Shakur is Tupac’s little sister. She was born in 1975. Sadly 2pac died six days later. In his final days, his girlfriend, Kidada, daughter of Quincy Jones, and his mother were with him. He died September 13, 1996. He had no kids. Tupac Shakur once said, “My mamma told me, ‘If you can't find something to live for, find something to die for.’’ Tupac had so much to live for, he was a talented artist: poet, actor, rapper. Through his death, he continues to inspire people in theater, music, and
