After our long, tiresome ride we stepped out of the bus onto the wet gravel at
the Delphian Dragons’ campus. Everyone was already getting excited for the games
that were about to take place. The JV boys were really excited, and looking forward to
a win!
The game started, right on time, at 4:30. The boys all came running out onto the
court to start their warm- ups. You could tell they had prepared, and were really ready
for this game.
GAME TIME! Jump ball! Our ball!!! Our boys were playing strong already. They were working together, as a team, like a well oiled machine. 2 points… once… twice…
3 times! Then, a three pointer!!! Up by 12 points at the end of the 1st... The Dragons
were still coming on strong. No one expected it to be easy, and they certainly were not…show more content… Granted, they were still no match for our boys. The
timer went off... “BUUUZZZZZZZ”. The 2nd quarter was over. LIONS were still up by 4
points. You could tell that the boys felt proud of what they had accomplished so far.
5..4..3..2..1...0, it is the end of halftime, and the game starts again. Only this time
the Delphian coach did not put his JV players in. He put four of his varsity swingers in
the game. I thought of this exactly like cheating, but evidently it is not against the rules.
Here we go again, 2 points… once … twice .. 3 times. Then, a three pointer. Except this
time the points are not for us. They are for the Dragons. All of the sudden they are 5 pts
ahead, then 10 pts ahead… 15 pts they just kept coming. Our boys were fighting hard,
but our JV team was pitted against Varsity players. It just was not enough to stop the
Dragons. It was the 4th quarter and the score was as low as our teams moral.
