Dennis Avner, or better known to the public as Stalking Cat, was born in Flint, Michigan, to Native American parents, both descendants of the Huron Tribe. When Avner was just a child, due to his Native American descent, he was given the Native American name of “Stalking Cat” by an Native American medicineman. Given this name, started a new life pursued by Avner. Avner took his ceremonial name to heart and began altering his body in various way to have the appearance of a cat. Starting after his deployment with the Navy, Avner began to pursue various body modifications to achieve the appearance of a feline, including: facial subdermal implants, surgical hairline modification, flattening his nose, and filling and capping his teeth (“Stalking”).
