During the second phase of the field training program, I observed characteristics that show Deputy Teekasingh would be a good candidate for the position of Deputy Sheriff. Even though Deputy Teekasingh was unfamiliar with the area and does not have a history in the career of law enforcement, Deputy Teekasingh shows he is dedicated to learning the position of a law enforcement officer. When it comes to Deputy Teekasingh’s significant strengths, I would say his great strength would be his report writing. Deputy Teekasingh still needs to improve his report writing skills, but he showed a significant amount of improvements during phase two. In the beginning of phase two, Deputy Teekasingh was having trouble forming the narrative of his reports. Deputy Teekasingh’s reports had rare or minor grammar errors, but leak formation. Due to the lack of knowledge with Florida State Statutes and agency policies, Deputy Teekasingh had to rely on other resources than his experience. During phase two, if Deputy Teekasingh had a question about an investigation, he would research the question by reviewing statutes, policies, and other resources provided.
