Chinese marriage custom
Most countries the wedding is a formal and complicated ceremony. China is a huge country and different places have different marriage customs. However, there are some similarly traditional marriage customs.
The traditional Chinese marriage usually involves six necessary procedures. The first is match-making, which means someone who usually is a woman go to a lady’s home and introduce a man’s personal details to the lady’s parents. Next is engagement, which is when the lady’s parents have agreed with this man, so the man should meet the lady’s parents and make sure he like their daughter and will marry her. After that, he takes betrothal presents to the lady’s home and selects a perfect day to marry. The next step is meeting the bride which is when they chose the day, the man comes to the lady’s home and brings her to man’s home and holds the wedding ceremony. In the ceremony, the bride and bridegroom must do three bows and drinking wedlock wine. That’s all of procedures of conventional Chinese marriage.
Nowadays, Chinese weddings have changed. Although some places still use traditional customs, most Chinese families or young people are easier and freer to get married.
