God has called us to a higher life. He created us to love Him with our whole being, and only through His power and mercy can we effectively pass on His love to others. There is nothing wrong with being nice to people; however, if we are living our lives to simply be nice to people then we are missing all that God has called us to be. We become passive and comfortable. And when we become passive and comfortable, we reject all the risky things that God places in our lives. We become obsessed with making sure we aren’t stepping on people’s toes, we avoid confrontation at all costs, we aren’t holding our brothers and sisters in Christ accountable for their actions, and we reject anything that puts our comfort or our society’s standards at risk.
