DESCRIBE THE LIFE AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS OF A FAMOUS PERSON IN YOUR ACADEMIC FIELD

Richard Charles Nicholas Branson, who was born in 1950 in England, is an investor and businessman. He is the founder of Virgin Group (Tycoons and Retailers, 2010). He is a legendary billionaire, because of maverick. His concept is Shrimp can also challenge the whale.

Branson, the eldest of three children born to air hostess Eve Branson, and Edward James Branson, a barrister. He has two younger sisters. His current wife is Joan Templeman. Branson had poor academic performance because has dyslexia. When Branson was about to graduate, his headmaster, Robert Drayson, told him he will become a millionaire or end up in prison (Branson, 1998). In January 1968, Branson with friends published a magazine called "student", the magazine for his Virgin empire laid a solid foundation (Russell, 2012).

The traditional concept of brand competition generally think that the new brand should avoid confrontation and industry leading brand, instead, they should through in what they ignore to success. “We are the second industry” has become a classic textbook, and follow by many brands. But Virgin is one of the secrets of success is beyond their own assets and ability, continuously challenge old brand directly. Richard Branson always throw a sprat to catch a herring.
