One word to Describe the Trenches was Horrific. The mud, the blood, the bullets, the bodies, the rats, and the smell. Everything was a crock of shit. Unlike those fucking Aussies trenches ours where muddy piles of shit. No running water, but holy fuck is it wet let me tell you. So much disease, there were more men sick or dying from infection then there were people being blown up or shot at. Surprisingly another thing that was awful was the boredom, all I could do was clean some stuff, try to get some sleep, talk to my boys, or play cards for cigarettes. Oh and smoking, can't forget that I love smoking. Basically, all you can do is sit here and wait for some german fucker to blow your head off. I felt bad but hey it’s him or me. I haven’t been killed yet obviously but it's only a matter of time. If some German doesn’t blow me away infection sure will. Today is a cool day in September in the trenches. My neck and back are aching from the makeshift bed I created from leftover sandbags as a mattress. I walk up and down the trenches just to try to do something other than sit and wait for an attack. The trenches are divided into three sections the front line trenches were the soldiers line up to charge through no man's land. It is usually lined with barb wire and little holes for rifle fire. Next was the support trench where they kept the heavy machine guns. These trenches were deeper and more narrow. They also put the dead bodies there. In the very back was the reserve trenches. These were in the very back and used for communication and house ammunition for the artillery in the way-way back. This is also where the high ranking officials stayed for strategizing, and
