This course is very important for me and many other students. During this semester, I became very competitive communicator. I have learned many things about communication including the communication and cultures (co-cultures) which helped me to understand how American culture is different from my culture when communicating. For example, my culture we communicate with our family members and relatives sometime as a tribe and we also support each other even if we are not closely related. Similarly, in our culture if you ask me who are you? I will tell you not only my name but also my tribe name and which village I am from. So, our culture is collectivism while American culture is individualism. Similarly, I have learned communication elements such as power of language, importance/types of listening and nonverbal communication. After I learned this part helped me to understand my work groups and other community groups. So that I can apply what I have learned to my work-place, my co-workers, and other social institutions. This taught me to improve communicating my group effectively, interacting with them and developing different ideas and listening others. Learning this course is what changed my perception about my workgroup. For instance, when I understood the chapters about groups I started to learn how this chapter is related to my work group. Including roles and norms, information exchange with in the group, and leadership styles. So, I have learned that to be an active person, hard worker and good communicator will allow you to take a role of leadership without appoint. After that I started to put an ideas and opinions and give advice to my boss. I also started helping management, Filling informal roles and address outstanding issues. Then, my supervisor promoted me to be a team leader back
