Be sure to exit the trail and explore Cedar Run. Past the two main buildings in town, the main street turns left and crosses over Pine Creek.
The small road to Pettecoat Junction, the campground, goes to the right just before the stream.
My bike sits in front of the Cedar Run store.
Along the small road are benches and a perfect view of Pine Creek and the mountainside. We may glimpse folks basking at the local swimming hole just up the creek.

There are several camp rentals along the rail-trail and side roads in this vicinity.
There is also a large modern campground just north of town called Pettecoat Junction. Since Cedar Run lies closest to the ½ way mark on the rail-trail, it’s a great place to stay when riding the whole trail.
Cedar Run is another town steeped in railroad history. At one time, Cedar Run had a clock station and a water tower near Jacobs Run.
Pusher steam locomotives sometimes were deployed from here to above Blackwell because of the grade when headed north. Passenger and freight trains shared the rails through the canyon on a daily basis. Passenger trains ran at least twice a day, in the morning and then again in the evening.
