A vision which I myself share with the artist. The last panel shows the young Husain driving his grandfather to the weekly bazaar and a family on a scooter moving along Connaught Place (the financial hub in New Delhi), towards the place of worship (gurudwara). Nearly every Indian can identify with riding a scooter, especially while we were young, along a busy street in India.

Critical Analysis
Husein's work “Modes of Transport” accurately depicts life in Indian the fact that everyone is in a hurry to get someplace each using whatever means they can afford. Whether one travels by bicycle, a horse driven cart, scooter or, for the lucky few, by airplane. The period in which it was painted was recent but the panels could very well be applicable to life in Indian during the beginning of the 20th century as well. In truth, his comment that his work represents “Museums without walls” is true by his depicting the historical means of transport in India's history.
