There are multiple ways available to us so that we may participate in protecting one of the planet’s most abundant resources. One of these options is that we can help restore the damage that has been done by replanting trees and other plants. If we are taking away oxygen producers, then the least could be done is to put some back into the works of nature. Another way is to support the life that already remains in these forests. A group of researchers found that, “It is clear from our study that small forest patches in the fragmented Lacandon rainforest can still harbor original levels of tree species diversity and forest structure, as if they were part of a continuous forest” (Hernández-Ruedas, et al.). It is wonderful to know that the biodiversity of rainforests can be preserved, as these species of flora and fauna are very important to the way of life. Also, there needs to be a standard set and stricter laws put into place to protect animals from being pushed out of their homes. If it was people doing this to other people, there would instantly be a call for justice to right the wrong-doing. These animals are defenseless and cannot speak for themselves, so we need to be the ones to step up and do it for them. Awareness needs to be raised in societies all across the world about the effects of deforestation and what we can do to stop it or help diminish its effects. The Earth begins to hold more heat than it normally would since the soil is no longer moist. This can also affect the trees on the edge of where the clear-cutting was stopped, and can cause those to die. Deforestation stands as one of the leading causes of climate change, because of the mass amounts of carbon-holding trees that are cut down each year. The amount of greenhouse gases that are put into the atmosphere because of rainforest destruction is almost equivalent to car output. Researchers found
