Developed by Malcolm Knowles, andragogy is the implementation of five learning assumptions incorporated into adult learning. The five adult learning assumptions consist of relevance, experience, motivation, self-directed and problem-centered orientation. The relevance assumption dictates adult learning needs to be relevant to the learner. The ability to apply the learned concept to real life issues is the motivation to adult learners. Additionally, experience also plays a role when implementing training. Throughout life, adults develop their learning process through the incorporation of a multitude of life experience. When collaborating the learning process, it is advantageous for the trainer to incorporate the adult learner’s life experience
