Shouldn’t young adults have a guide to assist them to have a more successful and positive future? Search Institutes have found a way to help young adults get a head start on their life by coming up with 40 Developmental Assets. The list is divided into two categories, which are internal and external Assets. One famous example in our society that uses Developmental Assets is from an author, Paul Zindel, who wrote The Pigman. In the book a character named John Conlan has a best friend, Lorraine. Lorraine tries to be Johns role model and helps him get through problems with his non-supporting family. To fill the void with his family he makes a new relationship with an adult who makes a critical difference on his future.
