Sociology is a study of how humans interact with each other in society. There are many categories that sociologist study such as, “sports, religion, music, medication, even the study of sociology of sociologist”, (Conley, 2015). Sociology is studied at different levels; Microsociology, this is when the study is done in- depth and with minimal amounts of individuals. Macrosociology is a study preformed on a larger scale and is based off a larger group of people. Within Sociology there is social norms and deviant behavior displayed by society. Social norms are the most common way that individuals within society act. When humans are interacting with one another in society, it is normal to say “Hi, how are you”. It is not a social norm to tell a stranger one’s life is miserable and go on for minutes giving precise details about one’s personal experiences. The definition for social deviance is, “… any transgression of socially established norms” (Conley, 2015). Furthermore, there are theories based on the sociology of deviant behaviors. When there is social Deviance within our society there is, social groups forming. These social groups that are forming individuals will act in the same deviant way together, this forming a Subculture. There is not one specific definition for the formed group. Subcultures are constantly forming and changing, those involved will have similar beliefs and sheared meanings of life. Those that are involved in a subculture may or may not be able to fit into society, when away from the group. Some examples of subcultures may include Biker gangs/clubs, health care employees, police officers, human vampires, furries, those involved in comic-con, and so on. There are many subcultures in society, and many people involved in a subculture without even knowing they …show more content…
However, there are also meanings with in the acronym itself. The purpose for this is because those that are involved in BDSM may not be fully involved with each of the acronyms. BD refers to Bondage and Discipline, this is the act of using restraints not only physically, but also psychologically. The next part is Domination and submission; this is when one of the parties takes control and the other gives control. Furthermore, the Dominator and the submissive can change roles. Lastly, SM is referred to as sadism and masochism. Sadism is when one receives pleasure from being humiliated or in pain. Masochism is the opposite; an individual receives pleasure from delivering pain and humiliation on another individual.
