Mr. Franco is a 68-year-old first time TWC/VR service user. The customer was referred by Dr. Kevin Samberg, who saw him for his injury. Mr. Franco reports a rotator cuff injury to both of his shoulders. The injury is a result of the repetitive motion of his previous job as a glass cleaner at Milgar Windows Inc. As a result, customer has difficulty moving his shoulders especially above his head, and experiences pain in the shoulders. Mr. Franco used to take medication for the pain, but reports he stopped taking them because they caused unpleasant side effects such as anxiety and depression. Customer informed VRC he must avoid cold weather to prevent increasing his pain, and that the injury is also causing much sleeplessness due to the pain and discomfort as well as him needing to find the “right position” to rest his shoulders on while sleeping. As a Quality Control Inspector Mr. Franco oversaw that the production and manufacturing met the standards placed by the company. With the new administration in the company customer was switched positions to a Window Cleaner. As a window cleaner Mr. Franco had to clean the corners of the windows and make sure they looked spotless. The repetitive motion of cleaning the windows caused the injury and Mr. Franco had quit the position in 2013.
Customer is good at directing people and communicating with superiors. The customer’s first language is Spanish, he has limited understanding of English. Customer does not feel comfortable using computer and other technology tools.
Customer does not have SSDI, his health insurance is Medicare. Customer has received Workers Compensation since
