At that moment Diana Moon Glampers, the Handicapper General, bursts through the doors of the studio. The audience suddenly becoming a sea of silence. Everything in the room stops at the sight of Diana. The audience, the orchestra, the ballerinas, and even Harrison. Even Harrison Bergeron goes silent at the sight of the Handicapper General. “Now, Harrison,” Diana begins taking long, slow steps towards the stage with her hands behind her back, “What do you think you are doing? “ If anything is unfair it would be you, Harrison. What gives you the right to remove your handicaps while everyone else in the audience sits and watches you dance around breaking laws.” Her gaze shifts to the ballerina and Orchestra once again, “The same goes to you all as well.” She quickly adds.
“Could it be that you think you are somehow better than every other person in this room? Is that why you removed your handicaps? To prove that you are better than them?” Diana accuses. Quiet murmurs spread throughout the audience, astonishment at the very suggestion painting each of their faces. Harrison stands with his mouth agape like a fish, unsure how he is to respond to such an accusation.
