The Diangelo’s house sold a little over a month ago. The day the Robinsons moved in, my mom sent me over with a casserole and some apple muffins. They have quite a large family, 5 in total. The eldest boy is 15, his name’s Mark. The twins Ashley and Nate are 13, just like me. Matthew is 8 and Lee is 5. Since Digger and J.T. are gone, I’ve been able to spend more time with Nate. His dad is also a crabber, and we both like baseball. Nate’s started school with me and we have many of the same classes. I go to dinner at his house at least once a week. I’ve showed him all the things I used to share with J.T. and Digger.

What happened?”
“Oh. J.T. and Digger used to live here.” I said, “But, something happened and they had to go to a juvenile camp in Maryland.”
“If ya don’t mind my asking, what did they do?” he asked.
So I told him. I spilled my guts to this boy I’d only known a few months and he listened. He listened to the same story I told you, and didn’t flinch. When I finished, he clapped me on the back and we walked back to his house in silence, because he knew I didn’t need to talk about it anymore.
When I finally got home, dinner was ready and I sat down at the table to eat. My parents looked at me, then at each other, then back at me again.
“What?” I said, “Do I have something on my face?”
“No, no honey.” my mother laughed.
“Then what is it?” I asked, this time my voice more urgent. I was worried.
“We have a bit of news” my mom said. She sounded just as nervous as me.
“What is it?” I worried.
“Honey, you know that we can never replace Amanda, right?” Mom asked.
“Yeah?” I answered
“Well, I’m pregnant again.” mom said. She smiled at me, but it was more questioning if it would be alright.
“Really?” I asked, still shocked.
“Yeah. Are you OK with that?” mom asked
