What drives someone to crave so much power? In Golding's book “Lord Of The Flies” Jack chose to be a dictator. The way Jack led was unacceptable, he chose to lead a dictatorship rather than being a true leader such as Hitler in the book “Night” by Elie Wiesel. Jack symbolizes dictatorship throughout the book.

To begin, Jake takes advantage of the children’s vulnerability due to his needs. This shows how Jack fosters his dictatorship. He cares for his hunger the most and not the others much. Jack still promises ‘’a feast” (p.142). The boys of hunger follow Jack due to the needs he’s promised to provide. He reminds them “I got you meat” (p.74) to keep control similar to Hittler, who promised the German people a better economy.
