In the book Hamlet there is evidence when, Hamlet says “I did love you” (Ham.III.i.125) He confesses that he did love her but then goes on and says that he never loved her. Which is demented, but it is meant to complicate the situation.. some questions may be asked, if he loved her why would he be playing with Ophelia’s feelings. That last example which proves that hamlet really does love Ophelia is when he finds out she is dead. . In the graveyard, Hamlet confronts Laertes about his accusations that he never loved Ophelia. Hamlet responds by saying: “I loved Ophelia. Forty thousand brothers could not with all their quantity of love make up my sum” (Ham,V.i.285-87). Now realize this, Ophelia is dead he has no reason to defend his love for her, but yet he still does, why is that?
