The Dieppe Raid, also known as the Battle of Dieppe was an attack on the German occupied port of Dieppe by the Allies. The 2nd Canadian Division had several operations to prepare for the raid. However the Allies’ plan of a surprise attack on the Germans was unsuccessful. The troops’ failure to communicate with reinforcements also resulted in high number of casualties.
