Epidemic is the phenomenon of infectious diseases that spreads rapidly to a large number of people within a short period of time. Epidemics occur as a consequence of the interaction of several factors including agents that causes disease, hosts that are liable to be influenced to disease, and environment circumstances permit host vulnerability to the agent. Society is facing through the increasing number of epidemic of diseases. Based on the epidemic diseases, I have made some research on the difference between the Influenza and the Pneumonia that are classified by the causes, risk factors, and treatments.
There are many causes of Influenza and Pneumonia diseases. The main causes of these diseases are by the type of viruses and the factors

It has been detected that the spreading of this Influenza (H3N2) virus from human to human is limited, but it has been identified that at this time it has not affected the community (CDC, 2014). Influenza B is a common virus as Influenza A (Department of Health, 2010). Influenza B is substantially a type of human disease and they are incorporated in seasonal flu vaccine (Department of Health, 2010). Influenza C causes only a common cold such as illnesses in children (Department of Health, …show more content…
Age is one of the factors of health condition. The annual rate of Influenza-Associated mortality is the highest for adults who are older than 75 years of age (Vibout.C, Charu.V, Lipsitch.M & Goldstein.E, n.d.). This is because older people’s immune system is weaker than the younger’s and are more susceptible to flu (Cleveland Clinic, n.d.). Pneumonia is a very common illness that can affect any person (Cleveland Clinic, n.d.). People who are elderly, very young and those who have health problem such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), are at a high risk of getting Pneumonia (Cleveland Clinic, n.d.). Injured lungs like damaged from breathing in chemical may lead to the chances of getting Pneumonia (Cleveland Clinic, n.d.).
Last but not least, Pneumonia can be cured with oral antibiotics, fever medication and fluids but if it is a severe case of Pneumonia, it required hospitalization to provide Intravenous antibiotics and other medications (VDH, 2011). The intake of excessive antibiotics of Pneumonia will lead to common side effects such as bloating and indigestion (NHS Direct Wales, n.d.). According to CDC (n.d.), Influenza can be treated by antiviral drugs which fight the virus. The side effects by the intake of antiviral drugs are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and some behavioral side effects (CDC,
