The Great Gatsby was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1923. Then it was produced by Baz Luhrmann. Many similarities and differences can be found in The Great Gatsby, in both the movie and the book. For the most part the plot is taken from the book, but a lot was changed in the movie as well. Some of of those similarities and differences are between parties. Another example is the similarities and differences between people. Although the book and the movie are a lot alike, the differences between the two make the stories different. In both the movie and book the two met at a party Gatsby had thrown at his mansion. Nick was invited to the party because he was his neighbor. This plot is the same in the movie and book, but some of the details in the two plots are changed. In the book Nick and Jordan meet again at the party. Jordan goes to look for Gatsby, but did not find him. At a different point in the book Nick is sitting at a table talking to a man about the war when the man says, “your face is familiar”. Nick goes on to talk about how he did not know the host, but lived next door. That is when the two meet each other. The meeting in the movie was. Gatsby and Nick were in a crowd and it seemed like Gatsby was looking for Nick. When they met, Gatsby knew exactly who Nick was, but he did not in the book.
