The theory of directed panspermia stated that life was transported from another planet by an advanced alien race. This theory has scientific evidence to support but also go against it. The evidence supporting the theory include, the meteorite that had evidence of life and the possibility of microbes going dormant and traveling across the solar system. However it isn’t supported by the bacteria found in meteorite and there was no evidence of advanced aliens visiting Earth.
The main piece of evidence that supports the theory of directed panspermia is the ALH84001 meteorite. The ALH84001 meteorite was sent from mars about 15 million years ago and was found in Antarctica in 1984. The meteorite had the remains of some terrestrial nanobacteria found within it. Later on they also found amino acids and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (what is released from burning coal, tobacco etc.). This isn’t a definite sign of life, but it does hint at it. directed panspermia is also supported by the fact that microbes can become dormant for a long time. When the Indian Space Research Organization took air samples from the stratosphere they found clumps of cells, even though cells shouldn’t be found that high in the air. However, it is possible for microbes to go dormant for a long time, long enough to travel across the solar system. …show more content…
The bacteria found in the ALH84001 meteorite was nothing like the ones on Earth now. This could mean that the bacteria found is completely unrelated to life on Earth or it could’ve changed to the ones we have now because of the change in the environment. There is also no evidence that an advanced alien race has ever visited Earth. If aliens brought life to Earth there would be evidence showing that. If aliens brought life to Earth there would be some evidence proving their existence. Since none was found we cannot prove that life on Earth was brought here from another planet or
