Thank you for your well informed post. According to Masters (2017), there will be role discrepancy when there is a disconnection from what we have learned in school to what we actually face in a real life situation. This is described as reality shock. I have experienced this when I worked as an volunteer in the hospital after my graduation. It seemed that I knew nothing on the first day of my voluntary job. I found that the practices in the reality setting deviated from that I had learned from the school.
