Today we are living in the 21st century. Science and technology has changed every aspects of the society, but the racism and the act of slavery are some things which are still prevalent in some part of our society. Even though we are not exposed to it directly, immigrants who are working at retail stores like gas stations, Dunkin Donuts, and liquor stores are discriminated indirectly. “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” is one of the famous novel written by an author, Harriet Beecher Stowe. In the novel, the authors illustrates the evil non-humanitarian, and merciless acts of white people over black people in the mid-19th century in some parts of the United States. Some people believe Eric Duncan, a black patient who died of Ebola in the United States was also one of the victims of racial discrimination. Family of Thomas Eric Duncan state that, “his death from Ebola is racially motivated’’ (WGN Evening news, October 11, 2014). According to his family members, he was not given the proper care and full treatment regarding Ebola because he was black. I am certain that the family members of Mr Duncan are correct. Treatment of Mr. Duncan could have moved to Emory University Hospital, where Dr. Kent Brantley and Dr. Nancy Writebol received lifesaving treatment for Ebola. If people with similar disease can survive why could he not? Authorities were they are able to save life of 26 years old nurse, Nancy who was suffered from the virus that was transferred from Duncan. “All (Patrick Elwood and WGN WEB desk)persons shall be entitled to be free, at any establishment or place, from discrimination or segregation of any kind on the ground of race, color, religion, or national origin, if such discrimination or segregation is or purports to be required by any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, rule, or order of a State or any agency or political subdivision thereof” (Public law, 1964). Even though it is mentioned in the constitutional act that everybody has right to have equal health care facility regarding their race, color, and gender. This act is violated and it is only limited in the written act in the constitutional page. These rights are not implemented in to our practical life. This proves that of “Emancipation Proclamation” and “Civil rights Acts of1964” are not implemented in to our real world life. Therefore slavery and discrimination are still around in our
