Attribution is the process of inferring the causes of events or behaviors. This process usually takes places without awareness. Attribution is categorized into two major types, dispositional and situations. Dispositional attribution is the explanation of individual behavior as a result caused by internal character that resides within an individual. As well, this form of attribution supports the idea that personal factors are the cause of an event or behavior. This form of attribution also infers a person behaves a certain way due to factors related to the person. Situational attribution is the tendency of assigning the cause or responsibility of a certain behavior or action to outside forces rather than international characteristics. The simplification of the social world is through stereotypes. Stereotypes emplace characteristics and abilities on a person due to their group or class. This leads to social categorizing. The majority of stereotyping is used in order to convey a negative message. As well, stereotyping makes it to where we ignore the differences between people in different groups. Prejudism is unjustified or incorrect attitude towards an individual based solely on the individual's membership of a social group. Negative behaviors or actions are made toward an individual or group of people. These negative actions or behaviors may be made toward the victim's sex, race, or social class. It has been concluded that there are four reasons of prejudice: authoritarian personality, realistic conflict theory, stereotyping, and social identity …show more content…
However, there are ways they can be reduced. Ways to reduce these acts of hatred include an assortment of peaceful ways. Speaking up if you see racism, stereotyping, or prejudice in action is one way in which they may be reduced. As well, supporting or attending events to support awareness may reduce these acts of hatred. Participating in peaceful protest or lobbying for non discriminative laws may decrease these hatred acts too. Finally, getting involved in local, national, or international awareness organizations or educating yourself and your peers may also help the
