The U.S Department of Transportation wants to alert those who own a vehicle and driver, that taking your eyes off the road for 5 seconds can lead to severe consequences. Teenagers know the dangers of texting and driving, but 21% say that they are aware but still do it anyways. The Public Service Announcement “Glee distracted driving (I’m on my way)” is convincing the audience the importance of avoiding texting while driving.
“Stop the texts. Stop the wrecks. Make sure you get where you’re going.” The creator of the video is trying to convince the audience not to text and drive. By using a short and simple yet meaniful quote, the way it was written and simplify is what makes it understandable and in those 3 sentences, it states the valuable meaning of the text and it relates to those who have lost someone to reckless driving. They also hope that it will keep the driver's attention and not make the same mistakes others make.
