Hi everyone,
A distributed file system (DFS) is a file system which stored the data on a server and organized shared file resources on a domain level, DFS can replicate the virtual namespace and the shared folders to multiple servers for fault tolerance and quicker local access (CSU-Global, 2018). Role services in the file and storage service role installation is needed to use DFS namespaces and DFS replication in Windows Server 2012. All the shared folders on different server are combined into a single logical namespace through DFS namespace while DFS replication allow to replicate folders to other servers within the organization (CSU-Global, 2018).
There are elements that make up DFS namespace like namespace server to host namespace, namespace

The other limitation can be the volume of the individual folders and shares. Furthermore, one cannot use DFS in the type of files that changes frequently for example, database file, user profiles and those files which are changed by multiple users (Benway, 2014).
