Teenage body Imaging is one of the major cause of suicidal actions and thoughts. Body Image is how a person sees oneself when they look in the mirror and how one picture themselves mentally. Teenage body Imaging is known to determine the self-esteem of teenagers as well as influence teen into having suicidal thoughts. During puberty teenagers goes through many stages of body development and often have different view on how they see themselves. Both male and females have different perspective on body imaging. For girls the Body starts to grow faster which can lead to uncomfortable growing pain in the arms and leg. Girls do develop a larger breast and wider hips.For boys, the same uncomfortable growth pain in the arms and legs can be experienced. Some teenage boys gain a deeper voice and become more muscular. As puberty progress, teenagers set a standard of what the ideal body images should look like. For a guy in the United States ; he must have a muscular body , strong and have a “six pack”. For a girl living in the United states, she must have long hair, acne-free skin and physically fit. When teenagers reach this stage, they start to follow the media and its trends. Girls and boys start believing that they must look like what is shown on the media in order to be considered “Hot”.
