I can agree with Dr. Szasz to an extent, some people do play the role that the doctor gives them, and by reading into their diagnosis they feed it more than they really need to. The one thing that does not make any sense is he states that “Diseases are “malfunctions of the human body, of the heart, the liver, the kidney, the brain”, when we talk about this is a mental illness that means brain so why wouldn’t the diseases of the brain make sense to him. I would love to read his whole book it seems like he might have a totally different view on mental illness.
