Does Cabaret Deliver Political Wallop?
Cabaret can be looked at as being a devastating critique of apathy, terrifying look, and a smart totalitarianism. This is evidenced by the setting of this story. It takes place a short while before Hitler gets to power in Germany. Too many characters almost stay locked in self-interest or denial due to the horror gains of momentum taking place around them. This, in turn, ruins the lives of friends with decadence becoming despair and violence while the music grows sadder.
