The advertisement of Real Beauty Campaign by Dove portrays women from various body shapes, sizes, age, height and even race, unlike the Victoria Secret’s advertisement. This campaign is intended to inspire women as women around the world refused to call their own-self as beautiful as they believe that they do not have the ‘perfect’ body, height, size and shape. So, we can see that the main purposes of the campaign are they want to try to put an end to the never-ending markedness of women and to disprove the distorted social demands of our society. If we put Victoria Secret and Dove’s advertisement side by side, it seems like Dove want to mock the Victoria Secret advertisement. Besides, we can see that they are really contrasting from each other and they also want to deliver a different kind of message. Dove is not using typical, thin and tall models to promote their products, instead, they are using women that having different types of body shapes and sizes.
