The oldest existing house in Los Angeles ,Avila Adobe was built in 1818 . By a cattle rancher and mayor of “El Pueblo de la Reina de Los Angeles “ Don Francisco Jose Avila originally from Sinaloa Mexico . Francisco Avila settled in Los Angeles around 1794, were his wealth began to expand rapidly. Francisco was married to Rosario Avila who then died and he quickly remarried Encarnacion Avila . Don Francisco later died in 1832 leaving the house to his wife Encarnacion who lived in the home with her two daughters until she died in 1855. The daughters and their husbands then lived in the home from 1855 to 1867 until they moved to Anaheim California . During the early 1868 the Adobe home was used as military headquarters for commander
