Don Marquis is the author of the second essay, opposed to abortion. Marquis’ main goal throughout the essay is to argue that most abortions are extremely immoral except in rare cases. He believes that murder is murder and disregards any defense or abortion because he sees abortion as denying the fetus from the right to live or having a future (Ethics in Practice: An Anthology, 143). Marquis basically tries to get his point across of how it is completely wrong and unacceptable to kill a human being, adult or child, therefore, making him question what makes it acceptable or okay to kill a fetus.
