Have you ever seen someone with a disability? Did you want to help or fix them? In the short story “The Scarlet Ibis” the narrator was dealing with this struggle. Unfortunately while he was trying to find the answer to this dilemma he showed some character traits that wasn’t commendable. Some evidence to this was when he renamed Doodle, trained him over the summer, and left him the rain. One example that proves that the narrator was a bad brother was when he renamed William (the narrator’s brother) Doodle. This was an awful name to choose for him because it was degrading.
