Her teacher while studying photography is Clarence H. White. Clarence H. White is a member of the Photo Secession group. She later worked unofficially in several photo studios in New York, including in the studios owned by Arnold Genthe. In 1918, he left New York with his girlfriend to travel around the world. Unfortunately, she had to stop in San Francisco for being robbed, and had to stay there for some time. In San Francissco, she had worked as a photo editor and opened a portrait studio. In 1920, he married a famous painter Maynard Dixon and was blessed with two children. A few years later, a major depression occurred and after that incident, Lange visited the area with the camera. His research has earned attention from a local photographer. Picture taken by Dorothea Lange about the era of American Depression made it one of the most famous photographer documentation in the twentieth century.
